NYX blush and Lipgloss review!

My picture after my birthday dinner showcasing NYX's Blush in Pinched and NYX's lipgloss in Perfect (over a dark peach lipsgtick)

I recently purchased some new NYX products that I'm going to review. I've tried their eyeshadow palette in Champagne and Caviar and did a review which you can see here. I also have their Jumbo eye pencil in Milk to use as a base for some of my eyeshadow looks. Basically, I'm not new to the brand, but I wanted to branch out and try their blushes and lipgloss. I ordered their blush in Pinched, which I've heard is a close dupe for NAR's orgasm blush that everyone raves about. I don't have the NAR's blush to compare it to (I cant justify spending close to 30 bucks for a blush!) but I've hear this NYX blush is pretty darn good! I also ordered one of their mega shine lipglosses in the shade Perfect. It's a beautiful nude that can be worn alone or over a lipstick or a lipliner for more shine. It really is a *perfect* shade in my opinion- it will go with anything!

So let me get started with a more in depth review of each product, starting with the blush. As I said, I ordered mine in the color Pinched. It is a beautiful golden peach color. It is a little shimmery in swatches, but when applied to the face it just gives a nice beautiful glow to the face. Be careful with this blush though--you can easily over do it! I barely touched the blush with my brush and got a nice application. This blush blends beautifully as well! I have a feeling this may be my new go-to blush! Here are some swatches and you can also see it in action on the picture above!

This swatch shows the more pinky tones
This swatch shows the more simmer notes in this blush- this is what gives you the healthy beautiful glow!

Now on to the lipgloss. I have the Mega Shine Lipgloss in Perfect, and I must say- I think it's just that! This gloss has is a beautiful peachy/pinky/nude with a nice shimmer- NO FROST! It will make any lipstick pop and have just a hint of golden shimmer. This can be worn alone for just a beautiful natural shimmer to your own lipcolor as well! This is definitely my new favorite gloss! It goes on super smooth (with a doe foot applicator), it is NOT super sticky, but seems thick enough to have decent staying power. Nothing irks me more then a super sticky gloss--you know the kind where you apply it and you open your mouth and you feel that goopiness between your upper and lower lip..blech! Over all, I think this is an amazing gloss, I will definitely be repurchasing this in the future and I'll for sure be checking out other shades from this line as well! Here are some swatches for you (you can also see this lipgloss in action over a lipstick in the above picture too!

lipgloss straight out of the tube, no other color on the lips
lipgloss over Revlon's lipstick in Peach
Hope you enjoyed this review! I promise to have some new tutorials up soon too! Keep checking back, and leave any requests in the comment section!

Rimmel London Gloss Lip Liner review!

I was browsing around my grocery store where I work, and stumbled accross these little babies, the Rimmel London Gloss Lip Liner, for 99 cents for a pack of 2. I do work in a discount store, so normal retail price may be higher. I have never been a big lip liner person (unless its for a bold lip). But I figured for 99 cents, I would give these guys a try! I picked up 2 packs, so 4 lip liners. The colors are Hot Spark, Be a Star, Sorbet, and Moreish. Here are some swatches to start off:

Top to bottom: Sorbet, Moreish,Hot Spark, Be a Star
I've never tried a gel lip liner before, the texture is quite interesting. When I tried them on the lips, I lined my entire lip then filled them. These have the texture of a lipstick and gloss combined, the definitely have a nice glossy shine, although they do tend to set and lose a bit of their *gloss* over time and become more matte. . I personally have worn them alone and with a lipstick. They go on incredibly smooth and feel quite nice on the lips. The staying power isn't as great as it could be- but I blame that on the *gloss* quality of these. I just don't think anything  with a *glossy*  texture is going to have great staying power on the lips because most people are constantly talking, and moving the mouth. But then again - I seem to have trouble getting ANY kind of lip product to stay on for more then an hour. So perhaps I'm a little bit negatively biased towards a lot of lip products. They are all quite glossy looking, but some are definitely moreso then others. Even though the staying power isn't fantastic for me, I still enjoy the texture and look of the product on the lips.

My BIGGEST pet peeve with this product IS because it is a glossy liner. Being such a soft alomst gel like consistency, these pencils are gonna wear down rather quickly, and need to be sharpened a lot! Just after one use of lining and filling in my lips, the original tip was worn about half way and obviously no longer sharp. Most lip liners have a bit more solidity therefore they last longer.

I had a lot of trouble finding this product on other websites, there are a few on amazon. This product isn't even listed on Rimmel's website. I'm thinking this may be a discontinued product.

I don't think this is a *horrible* product per say, but I understand why it didn't exactly take off. The pencils have great color pay off, great texture, but really lack on the staying power- which is a huge downside because a lip pencil is supposed to make your lipstick LAST longer. So, depending on how you use this product will depend on how much you enjoy it. I'm glad I picked them up, and will probably continue to use them while I have them - but I'm not sure I would have ran out and repurchased them if they were still readily available.

Enough of my rambles, here are some pics of the products on:
Be a Star

Hot Spark

Moreish

Sorbet
Thanks for checking back, and I hope you this review was helpful for you! I have a lot more product reviews and tutorials coming up, I've been battling a horrible bronchitus for a couple weeks now- once I'm 100% back to normal I'm going to get crackin on some new stuff! Hope you stick around and check back in the near future!

neon orange nail polish! NYC review

Ok this is just a short review of NYC Longwear nail enamel. It is called Times Square Tangerine Creme #112. This color is bright orange/coral color. It is a creme nail polish and goes on smoothly and I acheived opaqueness within 2 coats. I also finished it with a clear top coat. The finish result is just beautiful. I love bright colors and this was a wonderful addition to my collection. I also think this would be a great fall color, despite it's bright color. It would be great paired with some darker brick reds or dark oranges to brighten up an outfit for this fall. I am completely impressed with NYC's nail polish, this one was 98 cents and it's perfect in my opinion. I hate spending a ton of money on nail polishes because it always goes bad before I ever get to finish them. So there ya go, check it out--it's a beautiful color!

Rainbow Sherbert! (and a preview of Freaky Friday- my new weekly look!)

So I wore this look to work yesterday and one of my coworkers told me that it reminded them of Rainbow Sherbert..so that's the name of the look! Hope you enjoy! Also, continue to the end of this post to see a preview and explanation of the new weekly look I'm starting!

I started off with my Urban Decay Primer Potion, then I applied a white face cream (the kind for halloween) as my white base and let it dry for a few seconds. I then packed my pink eyeshadow to the inner half of my eyelid, and my blue to the outer half of my lid. I blended them lightly using a back and forth motion (be VERY light with this).in the middle to be sure there wasn't a harsh line in the middle. It turned into a nice purple color. I then took my purple eyeshadow and added it to my crease, being sure to blend it nicely and create the shape that I wanted. I applied my white highlight color then blended it with the purple, adding more purple and continuing to blend as needed. Lastly, I added a light blue shimmer from my Physician's formula palette to my tear duct to open up my eyes. I then filled in my brows and added my gel liner to my lower water line and underneath the lash line on the outer 3rd of my eye. To finish my eye-- I added a couple coats of my mascara.

I then moved onto my face. I started off with my primer, then I applied my foundation. This time I decided to apply it with a wet sponge. I noticed that my brand of foundation tends to dry REALLY quickly, so I thought maybe applying it wet would help it blend out and not set before I had then chance to really blend it. I did notice that it helped, but I don't think I got quite as good of coverage as I normally do, but it did blend a lot easier. I then moved on to applying my blush. I started on the apples of my cheeks and blended it up towards my temples. I didn't do any highlighting or contouring (was in a bit of a hurry--I even forgot my setting powder!). I then sprayed my face makeup with Urban Decay's setting spray. And last I applied my lipstick straight from the tube. I don't like using the setting spray after my lipstick because it makes it feel a bit goopey, so I always I apply my lipstick last.

Also wanted to let everyone know that I'm starting a new weekly look! It's called Freaky Friday! So every Friday I'm going to be doing a look that is a bit less wearable then my other looks. It might be a little bit more colorful or more dark, but it'll definitely be a bit freaky! So look for that starting next week. Here's a preview of what my first look will incorporate:

blueberry frosting!

Got a new look for you today, it's called Blueberry Frosting! Its a beautiful frosty light blue on the lid and a darker teal blue in the crease, and a white with green duo chrome as a highlight. I used the Physician's Formula palette for the "green eyes" for this tutorial today. So here's all the complete pics and what I did and used:

I started off with Elf's eyelid primer potion (I save my Urban Decay for when I'm going out).  I then used my my Elf concealer brush from the studio line to pack the lightest blue color (4th one down) onto the lid. I then took a crease brush and applied the darker teal color (under the light blue, 5th color down) into the crease. I had to keep adding more to the color to get the desired color payoff and just continued to blend. I made sure the lid color and the crease color blended nicely together . I then added the white (with green duo chrome) from the top of the palette as my highlight color on my brow bone. I then took a dark brown eyeshadow color from my NYX (champagne and Caviar) palette, and filled in my brows. Next, I applied black eyeliner to my waterline and 1 coat of black mascara to my upper lashes only (anything on the lower lashes smudges almost immediately). To finish off the eyes, I took the lightest color from the Physicians formula (top color) and applied it to the inner corner/tear duct area of my eyes.

I then applied my foundation using my fingers, making sure to get nice even coverage. Finally I took my blush/bronzer duo and contoured my cheeks and applied blush to the apples and swept it up to my temples. My last step was to apply my lipstick.

Finally back!

Sorry for the late posting ladies and gents! It's been a while since I've posted, I was waiting on some products to arrive in the mail. I did finally receive my E.L.F. products and wanted to test them out for a while before I put a real review up. I also ordered a NYX eyeshadow palette in Champagne and Caviar. I LOVE it!! So I'm thinking of breaking this up into a couple of posts. More then likely a I will break it up and review my elf brushes and tools, then a post for the elf makeup, a post for the nyx eyeshadow palette, and a post for all of my avon products. Then eventually a post for other random products that I've collected over the last couple months. So look for a lot of upcoming posts! I also got a new blackberry phone, not sure how good the camera is going to be for swatching :/. I asked for a digital camera for my birthday/christmas present, so hopefully that will happen! Also, I want to be absolutley clear, that all the products I use are mostly drugstore products. I am poor as hell, therefore I can't afford Mac and Bobbi Brown and Urban Decay products. I may eventually splurge on a few things here or there at some point. But all of my products are either from walmart, a drugstore or I've bought from reasonably priced companies online like NYX or E.L.F.

I've found that most make up guru's in the blog world or youtube, tend to use high end products and I know many many people like myself just can't afford to have hundreds of dollars in makeup lying around our house. Everything that I do on here, I've taught myself just by messing around, or from watching others online. Well I'm gonna jet off this post and start another one for my other posts. It might take me a couple of days to get all my posts up, but we'll see!

Later Dudes!
